Once considered an option for only the largest of companies, DS3 is now a common choice among companies of all sizes where a single T1, or bonded T1 service is not enough. Employing the “cheaper by the case” theory, DS3 offers the equivalent throughput of 28 bonded T1s (45Mb) for about the same cost of 4 – 6 bonded T1 lines.
DS3 is a synchronous time division multiplexed service that is constantly sending and receiving bits of information, offering guaranteed levels of performance. DS3 service is delivered to the customer premise via fiber optic cable, and may require some construction and additional cost to bring fiber into your building.
Installation interval for DS3 service can be as short as 45 days, but typically range 75 – 100 days and can be longer if special construction is required.
