T1CO Upgrades Network Infrastructure

In our continual effort to provide a more robust computing infrastructure for our clients, we have announced that we have upgraded our network and Disaster Recovery infrastructure. We have moved our replication and disaster recovery systems from our vault located at our headquarters to SecureData 365’s new colocation facility in downtown Cleveland.

“This fits into our long term strategy and our new partnership with SecureData 365 to grow our service offerings” stated our managing partner of T1CO. “By moving these systems to the new Cleveland facility, our services are now housed in two separate SecureData colocation facilities with dedicated 1Gbps between the sites. This move now allows us to take advantage of SecureData’s 1.64Tbps switch fiber between two state of the art facilities, each on separate public power grids.”

YOUR private or THEIR private

Operating in the carrier space for longer than I care to admit (hint – it was before internet and email were common!) I have worked for, and competed against, carriers that told clients they operate a private network.  What does that really mean?  Private to me means no one else, unless you say it’s OK. Private to the carriers means you, and anyone THEY say is OK. Huge difference!

A truly private network means no one else is using it unless you’ve approved it.  This switches the authority over the network from Big Brother carrier to the people paying for the service. Makes sense. Only your companies data and voice packets travel the connection, especially between your corporate sites, if there are more than one.  It is fully under your control.

The typical carriers idea of private means you, and anyone THEY determine are Ok, can use the network. The shift is back to the carrier and you lose control. The problem is most carriers have thousands, if not millions, of customers using this ‘private network’ all still competing for resources, even using private IP addresses.  Depending on the network design and carrier investment, this could result in slower than advertised bandwidth speeds or security issues since all the client traffic is sharing the same network with other customer traffic.  If you’ve ever experienced a carrier network issue and felt powerless to resolve it, you’ve been there. Doesn’t sound too private to me and seems like you’re paying for a service you literally have no power or control over!

The only true private network is one that keeps all your voice and data separate from any other packets from any other sources until it needs to traverse the public internet or Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).  If you desire, or require, a true private network which YOU control, let us tell you how some of the largest area firms with the highest level of security needs did it.

Data Center WAN press release

PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cleveland, OH – The managing partner of T1 Company, a Cleveland, OH facilities based provider of voice and data services, announced a new project linking four Northeast Ohio Data Centers together with a private fiber network.

“In essence, we are creating the first private fiber optic network between four independent data centers allowing companies to have a presence in multiple data centers without being tied to one provider and without ever touching the public internet”, says the managing partner.

“We believe this is the first project of its kind and we will be the only carrier with the ability to connect multiple data centers, all with unique footprints and advantages, together via a fully managed private fiber backbone.  This will allow organizations with mission critical cloud-based information to increase their security and reliability over what is currently available”, added the partner.

“Our goal has always been to stay ahead of the technology curve and to offer products and services we know clients will need in the near future.  Just like our 4G LTE wireless fail over offering, we believe this project is a next generation step in the evolution of cloud services. This private fiber ring encircling these primary data centers will offer near wire speed making data assets distributed among these data centers look like they are in the same rack”, explains Bryan Mack, Chief Technology Officer at T1 Company.

Each day, more companies rely on ‘The Cloud’ to run their business.  The Cloud means simply moving data assets that store important information or software from within the company to a secure data center outside the company where they can cut expenses and provide a more reliable place to store important content and business information platforms.

The key to this move is the reliability of the connection to the data center so employees and customers can access the functions as though they still reside within the office.  “It makes sense that the next step in this movement to the cloud will be Data Center redundancy.  In this scenario, companies will be able to locate their information in multiple data centers that offer high levels of security, separate power grids and geographic diffusion.  The keys for our customers will be Ethernet Private Line connectivity to all of their remote sites, combined with private fiber ring connections between these data centers, which will offer a highly reliable backbone for the information to travel on without ever touching the public internet where security can be an issue.  This will offer companies with the need for 100% ‘up time’ the best possible solution available today.”

The T1 Company offers dedicated Ethernet Private Line, private hosted VoIP and managed IT services.
